B-CU College of Education was awarded an Office of Special Education Personnel Preparation grant. The College of Education is very proud that Project Child will uniquely address the critical shortage of early childhood special education teachers, specifically in the areas of Pre-K Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), while supporting the national need of an increase in developing highly effective, culturally competent, and responsive early childhood special education teachers. This project addresses one primary goal: Project Child will recruit, retain and graduate master level scholars who embrace innovative technologies in education and who meet the growing need for highly qualified Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teachers with expertise specifically in the education of Pre-Kindergarten children with disabilities and children identified with ASD. The value of the grant is 1.25 million dollars. Project Child will provide tuition support for graduate scholars over the next 5 years.
