Mrs. Tundra King
Mrs. Tundra (Moreland) King is a 1986 graduate of Bethune-Cookman University. While attending B-CU, Mrs. King was an active member of the criminal justice club and gospel choir, eventually obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
After graduation, Mrs. King fulfilled her dream of becoming a police officer and began her professional career at the Boca Raton Police Department. She later relocated and worked with the Department of Corrections and then joined the Lauderhill Police Department where she was employed for 19 years.
Mrs. King was eventually promoted to Captain and became one of the highest ranking African-American females in law enforcement in Broward County. She believes that her experiences while at B-CU has helped to shape her successful career.
In additional to her professional endeavors and accomplishments, Mrs. King is also an active member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is a season ticket holder for B-CU, along with her husband, Mr. Darryl King.
In 2009, Mrs. King was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, but continued to persevere and now enjoys her life as Cancer free. The Kings are both retired and are raising their teen-aged son in Sunrise, Florida.
