Disbursement of Financial Aid

What You Should Know About Disbursements

Disbursements are the release of your financial aid to the Bursar's office. Once the financial aid is disbursed, the Bursar office is then responsible for processing the financial aid to your student account. All awards are contingent upon institutional receipt of funds from the Federal, state government, and other agencies or donors, and disbursement dates are subject to change.

Financial aid disbursements will begin after the last day to add a class period and continues on a schedule every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter throughout the entire semester. Students should review their student account in the Wildcat Web. The Bursar Office will process available refunds within 14 business days of the credit showing on your account.

Pell Grant Disbursement

Federal Pell Grant awards are generally distributed over two full-time semesters. Pell Grant awards displayed on your award letter initially represent your full-time eligibility; students enrolled less than 12 hours will receive a prorated Pell

Loan Disbursement

Federal Direct Loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and Parent PLUS Loans) are generally split into two disbursements. A one semester loan will also have two disbursements. All eligibility requirements must be met on the date the loan is disbursed. The first disbursement will be delayed beyond the 6th week of class, if you enroll after the first week of classes or you are a first-time enrollee at BCU.

One Semester Loan Disbursement

Students who are enrolled for only one semester and/or are on Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) must have funds disbursed in two payments. Students who have a one semester loan(s) will receive the disbursed at the beginning of the semester and one payment at the mid-point of the semester, per the federal regulations.

External Award Disbursement

Students with awards such as scholarships for tuition and/or books and private loans will not disburse to the student account until the funds are received by the Financial Aid office. Please have all award letters and checks send to: Student Financial Aid, Bethune-Cookman University, 640 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
