The PLUS Process

The PLUS Process

The entire PLUS process can take three to four weeks. The process is simple when you follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with BCU's school code #001467. Although the PLUS loan is not need based, a FAFSA is required to have a Federal PLUS loan processed at BCU. Please note that a new FAFSA is required each academic year.
  2. The parent should complete a Direct PLUS loan application.
  • If approved, the parent must complete a PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  • If denied, the parent may pursue an endorser. If the loan becomes approved by obtaining an endorser or satisfactorily meeting the extenuating circumstance provision; the parent must complete PLUS Loan Counseling as a requirement for the loan to be processed.

Once the application and any additional requirements are complete, the school will determine final eligibility.
