B-CU Hosts ICUF Meeting
Dr. Dorcas McCoy, B-CU's interim vice president for academic affairs, and Dr. Dwaun Warmack, vice president for student affairs, were recently honored to host on campus the Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida (ICUF) Academic and Student Affairs Meeting.
This is the first time B-CU has been selected to host the meeting, which is attended by vice presidents of student affairs and academic affairs from ICUF member institutions. The discussion included a number of higher education issues such as student success, tuition, graduation and retention.
The group enjoyed presentations by members of the B-CU administration, student body and Office of Safety & Security. Dr. Evelyn Bethune, granddaughter of B-CU founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, greeted the crowd during their luncheon; faculty and students from the robotics department gave a demonstration with their robots.
ICUF is a diverse association of 29 private, not-for-profit, educational institutions – including Bethune-Cookman – all based in Florida and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS). The institutions meet regularly to discuss a number of issues relevant to higher education and to lobby for policy change as needed. Meetings are held at member institutions throughout the state. Some meetings are exclusively for administrators and others are for students.
