President Jackson Holds First Staff Meeting

Dr. Edison Jackson, who took office as interim president on May 15, gathered the B-CU staff together this week for an official meeting to introduce himself and his leadership team.

Jackson greeted the crowd with enthusiasm and shared his philosophies on key issues such as  leadership, customer service and work ethic.

"God is not through with me yet; I am a work-in-progress," he said first. "It is a calling to be at this institution."

Jackson shared that he came to the university "not only to lead, but to move this institution to new heights as we move from 'great' to 'greater'."

Emphasizing the need for an invigorated focus on the highest level of customer service throughout the university – and especially with students – Dr. Jackson encouraged each staff member to teach students while they serve.

"Students come to this institution to have their lives transformed," he said. "We're teaching, they're learning, and every employee is an educator."

"I'm fascinated by the intellectual power that is here and all we have to do now is harness it," he added.

Referring to himself as a 'walkaround president,' Jackson shared that "with God's help," he will bring a "freshness" and a "new way of doing things" to the institution.

"I will be your teacher, leader, consultant and cheerleader," he said. "It's a new season and God gets to bless each one of us in a new season."
