Sodexo, Inc. Presents $110,000 Check to B-CU
Bethune-Cookman University is proud to announce that a newly formed partnership with Sodexo, Inc., a leading provider of integrated food and facilities management services in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, has paved the way for a substantial contribution to the school. Sodexo, whose corporate headquarters are in Gaithersburg, Maryland, recently stepped up to the plate with a check for $110,000. The donation is to “further enhance the legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune,” at the historic university, says Dr. Hakim Lucas, vice president for Institutional Advancement.
Sodexo prides itself on customer service, says Division Vice President Jim Jenkins. We listen to our customers’ opinions and then seek creative ways to fulfill those needs. “It’s a pretty simple business…tell us what you would like and we’ll provide it,” says Jenkins. “We are not here to drive revenue, we drive satisfaction.”
Sodexo’s recent contribution will satisfy some of the needs in the student development area. According to Dr. Lucas, “The gift will be used to support the UNCF Combined Charities Campaign, an annual drive for unrestricted funds, and it will be directed to enhance student support services.”
The newly forged partnership has been and will be doing many things for the university from here on out. On the horizon at B-CU, “a new dining hall and some more renovations of the existing facility, which will take place during the summer of 2013,” says outside consultant Audra Cooper of Autaco Development. Sodexo has already equipped the campus with several small enterprises, a Starbucks cafe, a World of Wings, and a minor “makeover” of the dining hall.
“We will continue to conduct surveys of the student body and administration in order to provide even more improvements for the future,” said Sodexo’s Senior Vice President Fred Formichella.
Please join us in applauding Sodexo’s investment in the future of Bethune-Cookman University.
