Kick-off is at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

The Florida Blue Florida Classic is not just about football; it is a time to gather with old friends and make new ones.  It offers an opportunity for family-fun and a friendly competition between two of the country’s top HBCUs.  This year B-CU will host the “B-CU Top 40 Under 40” rooftop reception.  The event will recognize outstanding, young alumni who are doing well within their professions and communities.  The reception will start at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 20th at the ONE80 Lounge at the Amway.  Other events include the “Florida Blue Florida Consortium Kick-off Luncheon”and “The Florida Blue Battle of the Bands”.

“This is going to be a great weekend for everyone.  We look forward to adding this weekend’s success to the others we’ve experienced this year at Bethune-Cookman University,” says President Edison Jackson.  Bethune-Cookman University has experienced growth in many areas over the last year.  College Choice ranked B-CU #3 for students seeking an HBCU experience. The White House Initiative on HBCUs ranked B-CU #10 for applicants in the nation and B-CU has risen to #23 in the U.S. News and World Report rankings for best HBCUs from the prior year's ranking of #31. B-CU has become a recognized trendsetter in online college education and recently earned the State of Florida's first and only certification from the United States Distance Learning Association.  In addition, B-CU is maintaining healthy enrollment with nearly 4,000 students currently enrolled.   As of a result of proven leadership, President Jackson’s contract was recently extended through 2018 by the university’s Board of Trustees.
