2007-2008 Office of Academic Computing Annual Goals
Student Support
- Provide all students with resources, information, training, and support to effectively apply technology to the learning process.
Faculty Assistance
- Provide new distance learning faculty with the needed resources, information, training, and assistance to successfully design, develop, and teach a distance learning course.
- Provide all university faculty with resources, information, training, and assistance to effectively integrate technology into the instructional process.
Educational Technology
- Provide consultation services for the acquisition of software by schools and manage sites licenses upon request.
- Increase awareness of emerging technologies through promotional presentations.
- Assemble technology resources and assistance for content-specific areas.
- Research and compile technology plan for the university on a bi-annual basis.
LMS Administration
- Document and develop LMS migration 2007 processes and communications.
- Develop and maintain Bb portal that provides links to resources and support for distance learners and instructors.
- Create and manage the administrative processes associated with the dl course lifecycle including course approvals, development and management.
- Plan administrative processes for community sites and pilot the processes with the Freshman College Community Site.
- Plan and conduct discussions on the future integration of Blackboard Portfolio tools.
- Research and build capacity for integrating videostreaming into distance learning and develop associated administrative processes.
Training Development, Delivery & Administration
- Develop and provide faculty with technical training in the use of the Blackboard Learning Management System.
- Develop and provide faculty with training in integrating LMS Building Blocks into the instructional process.
- Provide faculty training on productivity tools including those for tracking grades, managing files, and conducting assessments.
- Develop and implement professional development for new distance learning faculty in the design and teaching of hybrid and online courses.
- Develop and deliver university-wide trainings associated with student information and communication systems as well as commonly-used software applications.
- Analyze needs and conduct trainings on special topics of interest to faculty relevant to educational technology and distance learning.
- Create and manage processes associated with the administration of 1-1 and group trainings.
OAC Administration
- Conduct annual strategic planning including the development of an operational calendar.
- Develop and implement policy to support the administration of academic computing.
- Efficiently operate the Office of Academic Computing to ensure that all procedures and work are properly documented and that the office is sufficiently equipped to meet the needs of staff, programs, and services.
- Keep OAC staff up-to-date on the latest developments in technology and tools through timely professional development to assure that programs and services are responsive and innovative.
- Track OAC software contracts and administration through vendor management.
Communication & Marketing
- Create a comprehensive marketing plan that supports effective communication to internal and external stakeholders and prospective stakeholders.
- Develop numerous channels for intra-institutional communication to efficiently disseminate information regarding OAC programs and services.
- Design and publish materials to promote OAC programs and services to the external audience.
Academic Computing Website
- Redesign the AC website to communicate current the OAC mission and goals and to provide resources and training information that support and enhance educational technology and distance learning.
Networking & Collaboration
- Evaluate and expand internal networking trough the development of special project partnerships with university schools.
- Collaborate with non-academic and academic-support units to enhance and grow services for university students and faculty.
- Develop external partnerships to build an expanded support network for providing quality academic computing programs and services.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment and evaluation program that aims to measure program effectiveness and produce data to improve OAC efforts.
