Department of Natural Sciences

The Department of Natural Science conducts research to advance the field of natural science and STEM education to produce novel outcomes and innovative solutions toward improving quality of life with a transdisciplinary and global perspective. Through internally and externally funded collaborative efforts, we apply fundamental scientific practices infused with cutting edge approaches. Our students conduct increasingly independent research that empowers them to be successful in graduate or professional school or their chosen career. In turn, the efforts of our students enable our faculty to effectively develop and maintain competitive research programs.

As the fields of chemistry and biology merge, the Department of Natural Sciences at Bethune Cookman University are at the forefront with educational, research, and training needs for the next generation.  Our department offers Bachelor Degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Chemistry with a Biochemistry concentration. Faculty members are knowledgeable of innovative techniques and they infuse the latest scientific discoveries into the classrooms. Undergraduate students are encouraged to take advantage of research opportunities in the department and off-campus. Our mission is to prepare B-CU students for careers in STEM fields by providing didactic and hands-on training as well as provide professional development opportunities so that our students are not only academically prepared but proficient in life skills.
