The Wildcat Strength and Conditioning Club
Wildcat Strength & Conditioning Club
The mission of this new club is to equip B-CU students to become strength and conditioning coaches or personal trainers as well as those interested in health and exercise science-related careers. The Wildcat Strength & Conditioning Club will help current B-CU students to establish standards of excellence that will help them be effective instructors of athletes to maximize athletic performance through safe and effective exercise prescription.
While most clubs on the B-CU campus are social in nature this new club provides a unique academic integration to social and service engagement. Student members of this club will focus on the theoretical and practical aspects of program design, Olympic lifts, speed development, theory of strength and conditioning, and plyometrics. Through this academic integration, opportunities for service in the community should manifest itself.
Dr. Timothy Mirtz and Dr. Torrance Williams serve as advisors and are committed to preparing students to sit for the Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainers (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. It is believed that this club and its academic infusion will give students the knowledge, skills and abilities including professionalism and credibility to compete for world-class jobs in the field of Human Performance.
