The Center for Information Technology (CIT) supports Bethune-Cookman University students, faculty, and staff in their use of computer technology and the Internet for instruction, research, and administrative services.
CIT is comprised of five divisions: Academic Computing, Administrative Computing, Client Services, Network Support & Telecommunications, and Web Services. Special focus will be placed on the assessment, selection, and provision of computing, networking and telecommunications equipment and facilities to the University community.
The CIT offices for the Chief Information Officer, Infrastructure Services, Web Services, Client Services (Help Desk) and Administrative Computing are located in Faith Hall. Media Services and Technical Staff are located at 573 and 575 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard

B-CU Information Technology Confidentiality
The Center for Information Technology (CIT) is committed to maintaining high standards of security for private/non-public university data which the University is obliged to treat as confidential. In today’s environment of increasing risks to private data, where no network is or can be 100% secure, the CIT staff are committed to protecting private data from reasonably foreseeable risks through compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to data privacy while pursuing appropriate actions required to provide high-quality, timely, and reliable computing services. CIT staff use the electronic systems and computing resources to which they have privileged access to an ethical, professional, and legal manner that is strictly within their authorized job functions.
All IT staff sign a Confidentiality Agreement that recognizes the responsibilities and obligations placed upon them in order to fulfill CIT’s mission to provide high-quality computing and networking, technical support for systems and applications, computer support and training, web and telecommunications services. These essential technology services are provided by the unit to virtually all students, faculty, and staff. In agreeing to abide by the standards of the Confidentiality Agreement, CIT staff demonstrate their individual commitment to advancing the ethical and responsible use of the university’s computing resources.
Laws and Regulations Related to Securing Private Data
Federal and State guidelines and University policies regarding confidentiality of data include, but are not limited to, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Gramm Leach Bliley Act of 1999 (GLB); and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA). Links are:
