Second Move - Out Dates & Check-Out Process
(May 15 – 24, 2020)

As Bethune-Cookman University continues closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we strive to provide our students with ample time to prepare for the second move out process. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

The second move-out process for all students who need to return to campus to collect their belongings will begin Friday, May 15, 2020, and conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2020 (daily) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Students should contact the RLC of their respective building to schedule their move out timeslot. Students will have a maximum of ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES to remove all items from their room assignment and turn in their key to the Department of Housing & Residence Life staff, per the below Check-Out Procedure, before leaving campus. Please limit the number of individuals in your move out party to three total people (i.e. yourself and two others). Please wear facial masks as a health precaution against COVID-19.

Bethune-Cookman University is not responsible for any personal items you leave behind. The Department of Housing & Residence Life staff will dispose of all remaining items on Monday, May 25, 2020.

Check-Out Procedure

It is mandatory that all students check out with their residence hall staff. Please ensure that you complete the following steps, before vacating campus:

  1. Clean the ENTIRE room and bathroom. Inclusive of sweeping and mopping the floor, cleaning and wiping down the sink, toilet, shower, and mirror, etc.)
  2. Ensure the original set up of the room is restored. All furniture should be wiped down and arranged neatly.
  3. Remove ALL trash and perishable items from the residence hall and dispose of these items in the allocated dumpsters near your residence hall.
  4. DO NOT leave any personal items within your Spring 2020 housing assignment. (Bethune-Cookman University is not responsible for any personal items you leave behind. All items left within the residence halls will be subjected to disposal).
  5. Complete the Housing and Residence Life Spring 2020 check out form posted within the residence hall.
  6. Turn in your room key to the designated university representative.

Move-Out Dates & Check-Out Process

Bethune-Cookman University has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic in hopes to maintain the health and safety of our students. In light of this, we are sharing new guidance to our residential community regarding student housing for the remainder of the semester. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. We understand this shift in guidance may be upsetting for our students in this uncertain time. We want to assure you of our ongoing commitment to your health and safety and to the achievement of your educational goals during this difficult semester as we all navigate this pandemic.

Per guidelines in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, starting Friday, March 20, 2020, Bethune Cookman University will begin the process of closing its residence halls to students for the remainder of the semester.

Students currently residing on-campus must vacate their spring 2020 housing assignment as soon as possible. The Department of Housing and Residence Life will work closely with students whose personal circumstance require assistance to transition to a safe living space.

The move-out process for all students who need to return to campus to collect their belongings will begin Friday, March 20, 2020 and conclude on Sunday, March 29, 2020 (daily) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Students will have a maximum of ONE HOUR to remove all items from their room assignment and turn in their key to the Department of Housing & Residence Life staff, per the attached Check-Out Procedure, before leaving campus.

To allow for social distancing, as recommended by the CDC, if you live on an even-numbered floor (ex: second and fourth floors), please plan to return to campus and move out on March 20, 22, 24, 26, or 28. If you live on an odd-numbered floor (ex: first, third, and fifth floors), please plan to return to campus and move out on March 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29. Please limit the number of individuals in your move out party to three total people (i.e. yourself and two others).

Bethune-Cookman University is not responsible for any personal items you leave behind. The Department of Housing & Residence Life staff will dispose of all remaining items in the refrigerator/freezer for health reasons. In addition, a second move out process will be scheduled in May, for those who aren’t able to return to campus between Friday, March 20, 2020 – Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Information will be forthcoming about refunds and credits for room and board charges.

*Please note: Failure to check out properly will result in a minimum fine of $100.00. Trash left in the common areas will result in community billing fines.
