B-CU Interim President Grimes Meets Football Team

A proud Bethune-Cookman University Interim President Hubert Grimes welcomed his travel-weary Wildcat football team back to Daytona Beach late Tuesday.
With the B-CU campus still in recovery phase after Hurricane Irma, arrangements were made at nearby Embry-Riddle University for the team to have a hot meal after flying back from Baton Rouge, La., where the team stayed for three days after its 28-23 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
President Grimes greeting Head Coach Terry Sims and players as they disembarked from the buses, but elected not to speak prior to dinner.
“I think the players just wanted to sit down and enjoy a meal rather than have me deliver a speech,” President Grimes said. “I did want to come over and show how much I and the Wildcat nation appreciate what they did on Saturday and we are doing everything we can so they can focus on football.”
The appreciation extends to Embry-Riddle and especially Southern University, who opened its stadium and training facilities to the team during its extended stay in the Bayou State.
“My heartfelt appreciation goes to Southern University,” President Grimes said.
The Wildcats will travel to Florida Atlantic to face Florida Atlantic Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
