Undergraduate Admissions

Bethune-Cookman University seeks to enroll students with the potential and desire to further their intellectual, spiritual and social development.  Each applicant is evaluated individually.  Your academic performance at the high school level is extremely important.  The University also considers the applicant’s character and personality as well as his or her ability and eagerness to achieve a college education.

Undergraduate Admission Criteria

To be considered for admission to Bethune-Cookman University, students must have satisfactorily completed an accredited high school curriculum with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or better on a 4.0 scale.  

Coursework at the high-school level should include the following, each with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0:
•    four units of English
•    three units of college preparatory math
•    three units of natural sciences (at least one laboratory)
•    three units of social sciences and history
•    six academic electives

Application Procedures

All students applying to B-CU must submit the following credentials:

1.    A completed application for admission, including a one page essay on one of four topics detailed in the application.

2.    A $25 non-refundable application fee or official fee waiver form obtained from your guidance counselor

3.    Official copies of transcript(s) including all high school academic experiences.

4.    Standardized test results – SAT or ACT.  Test scores should be forwarded directly to the University by using Bethune-Cookman’s CEEB code number, 5061; ACT code number, 0720.  

While there is no stated minimum test score, candidates should have achieved scores near the national averages of college-bound students.  The ACT English/Writing or SAT Writing sections are required for scholarship candidates.

5.    Counselor’s recommendation form attached to the application.

Florida Classic Consortium Begins Prep for 2014 Contest

The Florida Classic Consortium met April 16, kicking off plans for the 2014 Florida Blue Florida Classic game between Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University. This year’s game will take place November 22 at the reconstructed Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
