Student Activities

The servicing, and thus the retention of students, is the primary focus of Student Affairs.  Along with providing for the basic needs of the student population, non-academic/recreational student life (activities) is an integral part of the Student Affairs Division.  The Student Activities Department is responsible for overseeing this aspect and coordinating all campus activities and most off-campus, student-oriented/school sponsored events.

Calendar of Events
The Calendar of Events is kept in the Office of Student Activities and the Director of Student Activities is responsible for its upkeep.

The Director has the following direct responsibilities:

1. To record all official fixed dates relating to the entire University family such as: registration, final examinations, commencement, athletic events, holidays, etc.
2. To inform all members of the University family of coming attractions.
3. To avoid scheduling conflicts.
4. To assist groups with scheduling and or activities.

To inform campus security of all events, in order to obtain adequate coverage.

Scheduling Activities and Securing Campus Facilities
Activities can only be scheduled on campus by organizations approved by the University.  If activities given are free, there is no charge to the sponsoring group.  If there is a charge for admissions, a fee must be paid to the Cashier’s Office for the use of the facility housing the event.
Any group wishing to sponsor an activity on campus should contact the Director of Student Activities to see what times and dates are available for their activities.  Once a date is confirmed by a group, it is final.  Any group wishing to cancel should notify the Director of Student Activities as soon as possible.  The University administration may cancel any activity on the calendar if it deems in the best interest of the University to do so.
