Rev. Dr. David Allen

AllenDr. Allen has an Ed.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University and two master’s degrees from Gammon Theological Seminary. He is an ordained elder in the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist church. He has served as a new church start pastor and has served in both large and small ministry settings. He founded the Hope of Glory UM church of St. Petersburg, Fl, and served as the first African American pastor of evangelism at Trinity UMC of Gainesville, Fl which is a 4,000-membership congregation. Dr. Allen founded the Chaplaincy department as the Dean of the Chapel, Executive Chaplain at his Alma mater, Bethune-Cookman where he currently serves as the Assistant Dean in the School of Religion. He has taught Understanding Faith, Spiritual Formation, and Contextual Education courses. He will serve as co-P.I. for the grant and as Program Director for ELM: Equipping Leaders for Ministry.

Dr. Alice L. Wood

WoodDr. Wood has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She has written and been awarded two grants from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. for a Youth Theology Network program, Exploring Gifts and Graces (EGG). She served as P.I. and Program Director for the first four years of the EGG program and is currently P.I. for the sustainability grant. She has taught religion at Bethune-Cookman University for the past twenty years. She has served as department chair, Faculty Senate president, faculty representative to the Board of Trustees, and she currently sits on the executive committee for the School of Religion. She will serve as co-P.I. for the Thriving Congregations grant.
