The mission of Bethune-Cookman University is to educate a diverse community of learners to become responsible, productive citizens and solution seekers through the promotion of faith, scholarship, creative endeavors, leadership, and service. Each applicant is evaluated individually based on their academic performance at the high school and/or college level.

Definition of an International Student

A student is considered an international student if s/he was born outside of the United States and does not currently hold a permanent resident card.

Disclosure Statement: The student must disclose all institutions attended. Failure to disclose all institutions previously attended will constitute falsification of information and will result in denial of the student's application

Admission Criteria:

Admissions decisions are holistic and based on the total student portfolio and demonstrated a potential for contribution to the university and probability for success at Bethune-Cookman University. In the application review process, B-CU strives to discover students who will bring academic and creative achievements and who have a proven commitment to community service and leadership.

Decisions for admissions will be based on the strength of the academic curriculum, minimum requirements grade point average of 2.5, SAT 810 (new) 1110 (old) or ACT test scores 15. 

SAT or ACT Scores are not a requirement for acceptance; however, to be considered for an Academic Scholarship, they need to be submitted.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score if the applicant’s first language is not English.  The university may consider a waiver of this requirement if the applicant has completed significant academic coursework in English.  Minimum scores is 79-80.

Satisfying the minimum requirement for admissions does not guarantee admissions.

Application Procedures:

The student must have their secondary school credentials (high school transcripts and other national certification exam scores) submitted to one of the evaluation agencies listed below. These agencies will provide Bethune-Cookman University with a summary of the student's academic program and progress. If the student has also attended a postsecondary institution, those credentials should be submitted for translation as well to the evaluation agency for evaluation and a GPA calculation.  Please note that there is a fee for the evaluation service. Contact the agencies directly for further information. If the student submits their credentials to Bethune-Cookman University without being evaluated by one of the agencies below, the credentials will be returned to the student, causing a delay in their acceptance.

The student must apply online to WES in order to have their credentials evaluated and pay the application fee for the evaluation from WES.  (Contact agency for fees).

The student must request a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation from WES and print an academic transcript request form from the website.

The student must submit the academic request form to all educational institutions attended (secondary which includes grades 9-12 and post-secondary).

The student must request that all educational institutions attended submit the forms to WES. Please note: If WES does not receive all transcripts from educational institutions attended by the student, it will delay the evaluation process. It is important that the student follows-up with their academic institutions to ensure that they submit the transcripts in a timely manner.

The student must apply online to ECE in order to have their credentials evaluated and pay the application fee for the evaluation from ECE. (Contact the agency for fees). Secondary school students must request a general evaluation report and post-secondary students must request a detailed evaluation report.

Once inside the application portal, students must select the name of their country of residence and follow the instructions given for that particular country.

If the instructions require that all academic institutions attended submit their transcripts to ECE for evaluation, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the educational institutions and follow-up with them to ensure that the documents have been submitted.

You will need to upload scans of your academic documents (e.g. transcripts, diplomas), select the appropriate evaluation, translation, and verification options. 

In order to complete the application, you will need the following:

  • Copies of your official transcripts and diplomas in their original language
  • A scan of your passport or driver’s license
  • Credit/debit car for Payment (Visa, American Express, Master Card, etc.)

Then make payment with a credit or debit card.

You will be provided a case reference number at the end.

The student must apply at GCE Application, and follow the requirements listed.

Must submit ALL of the following:

  • Application completed in full and signed
  • Clear and legible documents in native language – Submitted in two ways:
    • Included with the application
    • Sent directly from institution/university – Please note on application
  • Official English literal word-for-word translation for all foreign documents submitted one of two ways:
    • Included with the application
    • Sent directly from institution/university – Please note on application
    • Fronts and backs of all documents
    • Payment by credit card, debit card, money order, cashier check (NO personal checks)

Required documents varies by country.

 

 

If the student is currently attending an institution, Bethune-Cookman University will require the student to submit an evaluation of their final transcript inclusive of all courses taken prior to enrolling in our institution.

All postsecondary students with fewer than 28 transferable credits must also submit an evaluation of high school transcripts, ACT or SAT score report directly to Bethune-Cookman University prior to consideration. If English is not the student's native language or language of instruction, the student will need to submit the results of a Test of English as a Second Language (TOEFL).

Test scores should be forwarded directly to the University by using Bethune-Cookman’s CEEB code: 5061 (this is the same as the SAT code) or the ACT code: 0720 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test score if the applicant’s first language is not English.

SAT or ACT Scores are not a requirement for acceptance; however, to be considered for an Academic Scholarship, they need to be submitted.
