B-CU News/Media Policies and Procedures
The Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) Division of Communications & Marketing understands the importance of news media and those who have the ability to share information about our great university. It is our desire to provide accurate and timely information about B-CU, our students, faculty, staff and to foster positive relationships in our community and with our media partners. We look forward to assisting you in publicizing news that has a B-CU connection.
Designated Point of Contact
The Division of Communications & Marketing is the approved and designated point of contact for official university news. Our office is the point of contact for all media outlets and we simply ask that you contact us for official statements, information, etc.
Policies for News/Media Outlets:
The Office of Communications & Marketing staff is tasked with professionally representing B-CU. We will respond to news/media requests in a timely and courteous manner and we simply ask our media friends to extend the same professional courtesy.
We request that all media inquiries, including quote needs, statements, and interview requests, come to the B-CU Office of Communications & Marketing first. We will coordinate with the appropriate parties if and when necessary.
For the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, B-CU is a closed campus. If you would like to visit our campus or obtain footage, we ask that you make an appointment with our office and we will strive to accommodate your request. Please note, we do reserve the right to decline media visits.
Emergency Situations
If an emergency should occur at B-CU, the Division of Communications & Marketing will provide information to the news/media outlets in a timely manner. We will designate a spokesperson who will provide details as they become available for release. During such a time, media may have limited access to the campus and may be restricted to certain areas of campus.
