B-CU Women's Basketball Team - Playoff Bound!

Although the Wildcats fell to Alabama State in the SWAC Tournament, they DID make their first appearance at the playoffs under coach Janell Crayton.  Check out one standout player that's made a difference during this year's season. 

 

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – Bethune-Cookman women's basketball saw its season end Wednesday at the hands of Alabama State, 87-72, Thursday afternoon at Bartow Arena.

The Wildcats opened the contest strong, taking a 15-12 lead into the second quarter after some quick scoring from D'Shantae Edwards and Morgan Beacham.
 
The back-and-forth continued into the second quarter, as the Hornets and Wildcats found themselves locked at 20-20 with five minutes remaining in the first half. A 23-4 Alabama State Run to round out the half put the Hornets up , 37-22 after 20 minutes of play.
 
A 7-0 run to closeout the third quarter put the Wildcats back in striking distance after trailing by as much as 17. They cut the lead to 52-43 with just under a minute to play in the third.
 
The Wildcats kept things close in the fourth, cutting the lead down to 11 early in the fourth quarter, and again to ten with four minutes to play on a Chanel Wilson bucket.
 
Kayla Clark putback with two minutes left cut it to single digits for the first time in the second half at 68-62, but the Wildcats could not complete the comeback.
