Psychology
The Bachelor of Science program in Psychology focuses on the scientific study of behavior as it is influenced by physical, cognitive, emotional and environmental factors, and includes the analysis of behavior problems and disorders.
This comprehensive program of study emphasizes instruction in the principles of the subfields of psychology—which include African/Black-centered psychology, human developmental stages, abnormal, educational, counseling theories, personality theories, psychological measurement, physiological psychology, statistics, and research methodology in psychology.
Along with promoting the development of critical thinking skills, practical knowledge and competency, and an appreciation of the scientific method in analyzing and evaluating information, the psychology curriculum is designed to help students develop an integrated sense of self, identity and community responsibility through the understanding, appreciation and application of an African/Black-centered approach to psychology.
