Cassandre Bossicot, a junior majoring in business administration with a concentration in hospitality and management systems, at Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU), has been recognized as a rising star in hospitality management.
The Miami, Fla. native is one of only nine recipients of the 2024 Destinations International Foundation HBCU and Hospitality Scholarship for $8,000. Bossicot attended the Destinations International Annual Convention in Tampa, Fla., for continued mentoring in her future profession.
Dr. Ruth Smith, chair of the business administration with a concentration in hospitality and management systems at B-CU, stated, "Cassandre exemplifies the dedication and passion we encourage in our students. Her achievements reflect her commitment to excellence and her bright future in the hospitality business industry. We are immensely proud of her accomplishments and excited for the opportunities ahead."
She continued, “Bethune-Cookman University remains dedicated to providing students with the resources and support needed to excel in their academic and professional endeavors. Bossicot’s success is a testament to the quality of education and opportunities available at B-CU.”
In addition to this honor, she was recently awarded the Rama Scholarship for the American Dream Fund from the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) Foundation for $2,500, plus a travel grant to attend the highly anticipated Hospitality Show in San Antonio, Tex., in October 2024. There, she will network with industry professionals and enhance her knowledge and skills.
Another organization has recognized her for her scholarly achievements. She has been recognized as one of the nine inaugural 2024 George Turner Scholars. This accolade includes an all expenses paid opportunity to attend the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals Annual Conference in Birmingham, Ala., from November 13 to 16. Bossicot will also receive another scholarship award at this event, further supporting her academic and professional journey.
