The School of Religion stands on the foundation of the university’s mission, vision, and core values. In our teaching and learning, both in the classrooms and community service engagements, we strive to reach our highest calling to the service of humanity.

BA, Offering three concentrations: Religion, Philosophy and Christian Ministry

For the development of critical thinking and the ability “to seek your own solutions” to problems, the concentration in philosophy will introduce, reinforce, and lead to mastery of such skills as logic, argumentation and debate, evaluation of options, and ethical judgment

The concentration in Religious Studies is committed to bringing the widest audience into the conversation of faith and service to the world by examining the wide variety of religious traditions that provide a deep understanding of the power and pervasiveness of religion in world cultures as well as in American society.

The concentration in Christian Ministry addresses the specific interests and needs of students who want to serve the Christian church. the program is a direct response to a need for theologically trained African American clergy and laity, offering practical training with a focus on civic engagement and community service.

M. A. Christian Ministry

The M.A. in Christian Ministry provides academic study that enhances the Christian Church’s mission to the world by providing education for ministers, pastors, bible study teachers, and lay leaders.  This graduate program focuses on presenting a more vocational-orientated degree to provide theological education to clergy and laity, especially those of African American descent.   The program provides practical theological training that addresses the needs of the community in a variety of professions within and beyond the local church (e.g., church administration, chaplaincy, youth work, missions, evangelism, social work, and more).

Certificate in Christian Ministry

The Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry is designed specifically for those individuals who have a call to serve in the church but are not sure what they want to do.  The Certificate in Christian Ministry provides an opportunity to explore ministry areas in which they could serve.
