Mission

Our mission at the Office of Student Resource Services is to empower students with disabilities by providing equitable access, fostering an inclusive campus environment, and promoting self-advocacy and independence. Through collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, we strive to remove barriers, cultivate awareness, and promote a culture of accessibility that enables every student to achieve their full academic and personal potential.

Nondiscrimination is the Goal

Two primary federal acts affect the provision of services for students with disabilities at colleges and universities. These are Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Federal acts, continuing legal opinions, and interpretations of the law may establish precedents that affect the provision of services at the university level. Disability services providers use these laws, statutes, and precedents along with the findings of the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) to develop services and guide decision-making.

Confidentiality

The Office of Student Resource Services preserves the confidentiality of student records as provided in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Information concerning students who receive disability services is kept confidential. The office will not release information pertaining to an individual’s disability to a third party. Requests for such a release will be denied.
